The thing weighs a measly 5. Even after year to catch up neither the latest Kindle 8. Flip your Kindle upside down and try to stay looking hip. This thing is a monster and I go months at a time without needing to plug it in to anything.

You have to void the warranty just to put on custom images for your screen-saver. You can get books elsewhere, but it usually means jumping through hoops, and forget DRMed purchases from other stores. The PB is closer to number two. You can customize almost everything. It comes with a few fonts, but you can add any regular True Type font you want and the PB can use it.
Pick any font size. You can adjust the margins, the line spacing, every possible thing you could imagine about how the text looks, just like a word processor. You can pick a different style for the menus. You can set whatever you want to be the screensaver image. You decide how much info you want in the status bar at the bottom of the screen, or even if you want one at all.
You can even customize what every hardware button does, for both short and long presses. Saving bookmarks, adjusting the font size, skipping pages, every possible operation that you might want instant access to you can assign to a button. The PB gets reading books right, hands-down. With the fast page-turn mentioned above, a 10 second boot, and 5 seconds to open a book, I get in and reading right away. Even better, and this feature is killer, but during those 10 seconds it takes to boot, you can set the PB to automatically show a still image of the last page you were on.
That means I can continue reading the instant after I hit the power button. Which helps explain the monster battery life. I can afford to turn the device off completely every time, because of this feature alone.
Add the easy to use main context menu and the custom button assignments, and I have complete control over my reading experience. The device can read a staggering number of formats see the table above , including the almost-standard EPUB, of which there are many online stores to choose from. Kobo, Barnes and Noble, etc. Flags next to the icons signal whether a book is not yet read, being read, or finished.
Comparing to the big boys, the Kindle still lacks folder support and the Nook has a more complicated, split screen personality. Files with rigid layout, such as pdf and djvu files, files that are reflowable, such as fb2, fb2. In this review I will not talk about pdf files, that will take another long post. Reflowable files are opened in an application FBreader. FBreader is very configurable. It discards most of the formatting information from rtf, doc and displays text fully justified, in an user selected font.
In FBreader you can configure - font face, size - encoding there are quite a lot of options missing, but you can use UTF-8, so I do not see a problem. Among many, many interesting things you can set Apperance - theme, interface font, boot logo, text rendering Not antialiased, Antialiased, embolded Let us get back to the FBreader.
When you open the book, or when you change screen orientation or font or size of font there are just three dots displayed instead of page number and progress bar - this is indication that the device is repaginating the book. You can use custom fonts. Just copy ttf font into Fonts directory on the main memory when you connect reader to the PC. If you provide device with just one variant of the font, the bold and italic text is simulated, just like on Sony reader. When you load all for variants of the font - normal, bold, itallics and bold itallics the device uses that and you get real italics.
Just have a look at the shape of the 'a' letter to see if you have real italics. I strongly recommend font Droid that was developed specifically for small displays on Android operating system and released under Apache licence. I very much like the way fonts are displayed, rendered, antialiased, and hinted on PocketBook I have only one question concerning FBreader for our resident PocketBook resellers.
How do I configure FBreader to use left justification instead of full justification? I think have seen description of how to modify a FBreader config file easily accesible in main memory when you connect the reader somewhere on the-ebook.
Another question is, what happens when user deletes system files from main memory? Do not worry dear readers, there are only some configuration files, files with state of the books and such things in the user mountable main memory, so you can not delete some important system file. How can this be corrected? Can this be remedied by using "factory default option" oe perhaps by formatting internal memory from Settings or by reflashing firmware?

I was under the impression that these were able to read DRM material but now that does nto seem to be the case. You talked about 3 book files, sadly I am just learning and my eyes tend to glaze over every now and then.
